Men's Ministries

Men's MinistriesMen’s Ministries equips men to walk out their God-given destiny. Christ's mandate in Matthew 28 to “make disciples” is the motivation for building and sustaining vibrant ministries for men in the local church. As someone has said, “Men need the church—but more importantly, the church needs men.” Statistics about the shortage of men in church are alarming, and pastors struggle to answer the tough questions. Partner with us to make an impact on men's lives for the Kingdom.

Fathers — Disciple Makers

Written by Dr. Aldon Preston. Posted in Men's Ministries

"Wait 'til your father gets home!" I know this is a saying that is past its prime, but it used to be the apex of home the home disciplinary threat. That idea of discipline has apparently gone the way of the dinosaur in that disciplinary measures are no longer considered just the father's role. This may be a positive development but there are still some concerns that go along with it. My question is whether or not have fathers abandoned the function of making disciples along with the sharing of discipline. I hope not.

ARE YOU COURAGEOUS+

ARE YOU COURAGEOUS?

The film “Courageous” has been out now for quite a while and I hope you have had the opportunity to see it. If not, it is available for purchase on DVD and I would encourage you to get a copy and watch it. It has been having an impact on many families and men in particular. The challenge is there to stand up and be men of God.

The title is interesting for it challenges men to be courageous. Too often it is easy to sit back and take the easy road, to ignore situations and hope that with time they will work themselves out. Sometimes it is easier to let our wives handle the stress of the children and to take the responsibility for the spiritual nourishment of our families. While these things might be easier, they are not right. It takes a real man of courage to stand up and become the priest of their own home.   When we muster the courage to take that stand we find there is help to see it accomplished.

Joshua faced a similar situation in Joshua chapter 1. Moses was dead and it was time for him to stand up and take the lead. God gives him several promises and then tells him to BE STRONG AND OF A GOOD COURAGE.   Realizing that Joshua would need help God promised to lead him and guide him, and provide for him, and at least two more times we read that Joshua was to be strong and courageous. Yet that is not the end of it. The very last verse of chapter one, we find the men of Israel telling Joshua “We will hearken unto you….whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou command him, he shall b e put to death: ONLY BE STRONG AND OF A GOOD COURAGE.”
