Heartland Conference School of Ministry 2017-2019

As fall is approaching and we all begin to settle back in to a routine, I wanted to take an opportunity to remind you about the

Heartland Conference School of Ministry.

What is the Heartland Conference School of Ministry?

It is a two year program in which you will be equipped to serve as a leader in a healthy church. You could even be serving as a senior pastor.

Overview and Requirements

The Heartland School of Ministry is a 16 –course program to train ministers, ministerial candidates , and lay leaders. We operate on a 2-year cycle with 8 classes per year (September –November and January-May). The format is modular, so classes may be taken in any order.

Each course includes reading, pre-class assignment(s) and an exciting class taught by experts in the subject matter. Those who complete the School of Ministry receive a diploma and qualify for ministerial licensing in the Heartland Conference.

You can choose to audit—enjoy the classroom interaction without the pre-class assignment or receiving a grade.

There are no formal academic requirements for admission to the school, but a pastoral recommendation is required.

Class Structure

Classes meet once a month on a Friday evening and Saturday. On the Friday, check-in and dinner begin at 6:00, and a class typically runs from 7:00-9:30. Saturdays feature a breakfast beginning 30 minutes before class begins (normal start time for class is 9:00 but is subject to change).

Dress is casual and snacks are served during the class sessions.

School of Ministry students are entitled to stay in the conference dorms for a low cost.
