May His Name Remain Holy

SteveHallieBrown200x270          In the Lord's prayer, Luke 11:2, Jesus begins with "Father, hallowed be your name" (NIV). That simple statement is profound. In the original language Jesus was literally saying, "Father may your name remain Holy, sanctified, and set apart." Our God is unlike anyone or anything! Even His name is set apart and stands alone. There is no other name that is like His! Jesus understood this. He wasn't praying to a common, insignificant, generic power. He was praying to His Father whose name is Holy. May we never pray a common prayer to an uncommon God whose very name is set apart! May we honor God by keeping His Name Holy, and uncommon. Jesus wants us to understand that prayer to our Father begins with understanding that He is not common but Holy. Father may your name remain Holy!
